week 13 Interactive Prototype III feedback


The form of the prototype
The main part of this prototype is a simple flash file which was script by flash cs6 and ActionScript 3. The application interface is designed by ActionScript, this prototype allow users to click the mouse to control the start, pause, stop and restart Stress Indicator and timer, it also allowed user press the keyboard to control the gorilla in the computer. When user click the start button or restart button, the timer start from 30 second to 0 and show “time is up” to stop the Stress Indicator, during the 30 second, user can press keyboard, gorilla in the computer beat its own chest. After 30 second the totally press of the keyboard will be calculate and show on the left top of interface.

The feedback
Concluding to interactive Prototype III  feedback, most of the design got the positive feedback, especially
in button understanding and most of them think timer setting make the stress indicator more challenge to play. There are still some people have different opinion on the time setting, some of them think it is a little bit long, so I am thinking to improve it to choose level in future so that it can have better user experience of different people. 

Some of the user expect for the physical prototype combine the prototype 3 to testing, because it will increase the real experience and have more fun to use. I will take it into consideration and improve in future work.

Revisit Definition of a Prototype

My understanding of prototyping

before I choosing this course, I know little thing about the prototyping, I thought it is simmer way of design. Now I have notice the important of prototyping is, from the lower prototyping to the high prototype, each part of it has the better way to design and get feedback from users.

I didn't realize the important of feedback getting from users, especially for the questions setting.

Week 11 Pugh Matrix for Representing Movement

Reproducing/representing movement in 3D space.

As we all know  that, the Theremin is difficult to Reproducing/representing. In my idea, the Theremin  is difficult to play because it can only use the  muscle memory to play it. When it become a physical experience, the problem will be solved at the same time. 

I am thinking to make it touchable or visible allows a musical composition to be accurately played on a Theremin.

first idea is making lights under the Theremin Showing the X- axis, y- axis, and z- axis location by different light, the Theremin is visible  in that way, which may be play as the other physical musical instrument like piano.

Second idea of mine is make Theremin Control by wind, setting the air blower under the Theremin and player can use their feeling to feel the Theremin  like a real string instrument.

week 10 Interactive Prototype II feedback


About Interactive Prototype II
I have designed this Interactive Prototype, to test physical input represented back to the user through the interface in the Stress Indicator. The main purpose is to evaluate the physical control the interface using the real interactive way instead press the keyboard. 

The first thing is testing the interactive feedback using the physical objects include the feedbacks users get when they wearing interactive T-shirt and interactive gloves to beat chest behaviors. I want to know if they think there is enough fun during the beat chest and Indicator the Stress control the gorilla in the computer to beat its own chest. Also I want to know if it is a good way to interactive with people and if it is a novel approach to physical interaction using the MakeyMakey to interact.

The other feature I want to test is if the physical interaction allows unimpeded testing of interactions connect with the interface. I’m looking forward to find a improve way to make sure the physical interaction more fluency.


The feedback
It is inspired me that most of the feedback for this prototype is positive and most of the user think physical interaction approach is good and can provide much fun when using it. This prototype is easy to understand and the physical prototype fluency enough to control. I think this physical prototype is very successful.

week 9 The interactive way development 2


The interactive way development was move on the second part of wearable T-shirt design. The main problem is how to keep it strong and can support long time stress beat test.

During this process, I have tested many material to find a effective way to finish this prototype. And I finally decided use the silver paper as the main material linking to MakeyMakey.

In my testing, one  layer silver paper  is easy to broken, we can see the silver paper  change from 10 beat test to 50 beat test, so I added it to 10 layer to test, and it can still use after 50 beat test. 




According to this strong stress test, I decided to makeing silver paper  as little stick to 
linking as the MakeyMakey.I make this as Version 3, I change the silver paper to link only some important point on the T-shirt, and cover the gloves with metallic wire. Make the wire long enough so that it will have more space for people to play. That make sure the prototype looks as a developed product and would not affect the usability.

Experience P’typing

Restaurant Dining Experience

for experience of both customer and waiter, the we can use a ring to keep both of customer and waiter to notified when waiting for food.
This may be annoying for others even the customer themselves, but it is useful for waiter who don't need to come to ask the customer by walking around, that can save a lot of time. 

For the customer experience, I prefer the light notice than the noise notice. because it has no sound and can also make the point in simmer way. Customer around would feel relax than a sudden sound came out.

week 8 The interactive way development 1


The first part of  interactive way development is how to use the gloves to linking to the T-shit.  

In Version 1the simple metallic board hang on the T-shirt and user it will work when user use their hand to touch the metallic board. In this version, MakeyMakey link the metallic board and people to the computer. After a few test on this version, I found it is poor Novel approach to physical interaction using the MakeyMakey and it may be hurt to beat chest without any protection which cannot support the comfortable user experience so I create version2.

I added this gloves as my second Version 2, I use gloves instead the user’s hand which means it looks more likely a gorilla , and I use the cooking silver paper to cover the T-shirt and gloves. In this version, people will not need to link the MakeyMakey directly and it is easy and clearly to control the device. Then I found it is easy to break the silver paper when we beat on the T-shirt, and it make really annoying sound when both T-shirt and gloves covered with silver paper. 

Before I finish this part design, I tried many way as I can to improve the usability and effectively of this physical prototype.

physical interaction idea

The key process of this prototype include the physical interaction of Stress Indicator, so the elements involved in this process have to make sure the imitation of gorilla chest beating behaviors to be real and increase the user experience.  Therefore, I decided to create a prototype controlled using gloves to beat on T-shirt so that it is easy to wear and control. The interesting of this wearable product will be considered and higher priority of testing the usability of control of this product.

The result shared on social media function, the interface embellish and improvement on ActionScript will not be include in this prototype.

physical interactions

5 diff. physical interactions for Email, Twitter, Super Mario Bros

Email
1, read email
link the read email to a book, when open the book, the email will show too.

2, sent email
link email to a boll, push it away when need to sent email.

3, delete email
using a boll and dustbin link to email, when the  bool is throw into the dustbin, the email will be delete.

4, add flag
using the real flag in front of the computer, press one of the flag, the same color of the flag will show in email.

5, add favorite
using the pencil and paper. the paper linking to email, when it need to add favorite, user need to use a pencil to draw a circle.


Twitter
1, sent massage
use finger to touch the board in front. the board linking to the control button.

2, add friends
kiss the little hart button on board, the people and the board both linking to computer.

3, delete friend.
the device linking to paper, delete friend just need to rip out a piece of paper.

4, Comments
press on the paino to control it.

5, Update own tweets
linking the control button on T-shirt, touch by finger can update the tweets.



Super Mario Bros (the platformer game)
1, walk
using the paper on flow, step on front means walk.

2, jump
using the water in the bottle, drop one to an other bottle when need a jump, the bottle has the linking point inside.

3, eat mushrooms
 put a apple in the cage, the apple touch the linking point on cage, Mario will eat a mushrooms at the same time.

4, go back
use a boll linking to computer, pull the boll back can make Mario go back.

5, start again
put two bottle in front, both of them linking to the control button, start again when two people cheers on the bottle.

week 7 Interactive Prototype I feedback


In my Interactive Prototype I, I have designed a stress indicator and the main function in this prototype is decided to be the gorilla control interface, the press calculate function is decided to be the second important one.

When user press the left arrow, the gorilla in the computer beat its left chest. When user press the right arrow, the gorilla in the computer beat its right chest. When user press the both arrow, the gorilla in the computer beat it both chest.

From the feedback of the questionnaire, I found many user expect to use the time line or limited setting to increase the challenge and interest of this produce, so my future work may add some limited setting to help user attract their beating number.

Reflect on & rewrite

user-testing questions Revisit

In the last questions, I have asked "which part you do not like, and how to improve it" I suppose to ask a open-ended questions For Qualitative responses and I would change it as "What’s one thing you would fix?"

The other question I asked is "do you like the music in this video prototype?" I would not ask like that now,it is for quantitative responses, and I would change it as "Place a cross at the point that reflects your opinion of the music in this video prototype" and give the point let user choose themselves.

week 5 The concept of idea (Changed)

The concept of idea

The product I have design is Wearable Social Interventions which named Stress Indicator. Stress Indicator is a Wearable Social Interventions product, which can indicate the stress and reduce the stress. It works as a controller T-shirt use makey makey link to computer. User need wear controller T-shirt and imitate the gorilla chest beating behaviors to control the gorilla in the computer. This product is design for the people who is under stress and want to try a new way to reduce their stress. The result of stress can be shared the chest beating speed on social media like Facebook as an interaction product.
What the ‘thing’? How it would be used?
Stress Indicator is a Wearable Social Interventions product. It works as a controller T-shirt with makey makey, which can control the gorilla in the computer. User need to Imitate the gorilla chest beating behaviors in the computer, and it will control the gorilla in the computer to following you move. When you beat your chest, gorilla in the computer beat its own chest. It can also share the chest beating speed on Facebook. This can indicate how stressed you are, and you can also get to know the stress of your friend.

Who it is for?
It is design for the people who is under stress and want to try a new way to reduce their stress.


Why design?

week4 Video Prototype feedback


The purpose of the prototype
About the Element choose, I wondering to make the video prototype as the stick figure, so I decided to use the VideoScribe to make video prototype.
When constructing the prototype, I am trying to make it video with consistent storyboard, so I decided to make it as sketch drawing one with all the steps about how the idea come out, and what the idea use for, and also how it works.

 The feedback

Because of the  VideoScribe I used, there is no people speak in the video, some of the user have give me advice of adding the voice in the video, to make the video more show in  a diversifying away.

Operationalising

The Dashboard interaction way

The signal lights on Dashboard, the indicator on Dashboard all have relevant to driving behavior.

The signal light interaction way is flicker, that can notice the driver to check on the dashboard showing. For example, when the car turn right, the right light will flicker at the same time, the driver will notice what happened.

The indicator on dashboard also can interactive with driver by showing the data on dashboard. For example, the speed indicator will show the driver the current speed when driving.

week3 The idea of mine

Stress Indicator

It is design for the people who is under stress and want to try a new way to reduce their stress.

stress indicator, I want to people have a really new feeling bout use it. Like something different to reduce stress, which is more fun and more social use. I hope to find out what people feeling about the everyday stress, and do they want to reduce in a totally different way, like Chest Beating. Furthermore, I want to find out will it bring people fun when they use it. And also help the user to let the stress out in an easy way. During the prototype in future work, I will improve my idea, and improve the user experience.

I have choose the Wearable Social Interventions challenge to do my Video Prototype. Weird gestures happened everywhere, I wondering to do something that turns these weird gestures into a fun thing. In our daily life, stress is everywhere. When people stand in front of a group of people, and even when people are talking, may be they are under stress and they may not be able to talking about. An idea of a wearable Indicator can indicate the stress came out of my mind, which can also reduce the stress at same time. I named it “Stress Indicator”.
